Strength & Conditioning for Physiotherapists

This 2-day course teaches physiotherapists fundamental skills in prescribing gym-based strength exercise programmes.

A mixture of practical and theory sessions combine to give physiotherapists the confidence and competence to deliver effective rehabilitation, injury prevention and general strength programmes.

Based on the most up to date research and practice, participants will learn how to effectively prescribe key lower limb strength exercises to their patients, how to match the intensity of the exercise to the capacity of the individual and how to create structured and progressive programmes.

The key take home messages can be readily applied to clinical practice in a variety of settings.

Absolutely. It’s ok not to feel confident with this, you are not alone. This course will help bridge the gap between early rehabilitation and formalised gym-based rehab by helping you develop a repertoire of strength exercises and modifications. Merv will help you learn how to construct a gym-based strength programme using these exercises. This will include appropriate exercise selection and learning how to match the intensity of the exercise to the individual’s capacity.

Reps, sets, intensity and frequency confuse me. Help!

You sure will. Exercise prescription is only a small component of most post-graduate courses. This 2 day course extends beyond content covered in most Physiotherapy courses, either under-graduate or post-graduate. Therefore, by attending this course you will add to your theoretical knowledge and practical skill set in this area.
